Besakih Temple or Pura Besakih is a collection of temples found in the village of Besakih in Eastern Bali and is known as the Mother Temple. It is considered one of the most important temples in Bali and it was built in the 11th. Pura Besakih perched nearly 1000 meters up the side of mount Agung is the oldest and largest Hindu temple in Bali. When Mount Agung erupted in 1963 (killing 1,700 people) the lava flows missed the temple by few meters which is seen as a miracle and a sign from the gods.

Kuta Beach is a great place to learn from local surfers and you can also rent a board. Some schools guarantee that you will be able to stand up on the board in just one day of instruction.
